Hello all! You are receiving this email because your student is signed up for participating in the St. Cecilia String Ensemble on Tuesdays after school from 3:20 PM to 4:40 PM. You're probably wondering "how do I get my student their instrument?" I'll try to make it as easy as possible. If your child has selected violin or viola, the best option is to rent from Long & McQuade. See the video below for a walkthrough of how to do it. I am going to Long & McQuade before our next meeting, so if you want me to pick up an instrument for your child on your behalf, I would be quite happy to. You will just need to place the order first, and the video shows you how. Alternatively you can call Long & McQuade at (403) 244-5555 and ask for the Band Department. They will set your violin/viola aside for me to pick up on your behalf. Please just send me an email telling me I should expect an instrument is waiting for me.
If your child has selected cello, you will be renting from Notre Dame Collegiate. Your rental should already appear in your SchoolCashOnline account. The fee covers the entire year. I will provide your student with their instrument when I have been told by the front office that payment, or arrangements for payment have been made by you with the office. Our first meeting will be going over care and maintenance of the instruments on September 22. The students will also test drive their first times of playing. It should be noted that I will likely be helping them with their instruments directly, so I will be using hand sanitizer extensively during that lesson, and will be asking your students to do the same. Students will need to leave campus immediately after the class is done at 4:40 PM. While it is beautiful weather, this should not be a major issue, but once the weather turns less friendly, your family may need to figure out arrangements for picking up your students without delay. Thank you for supporting your students in this adventure! I can't wait to make new music with them!
