Senior Festival

Please read the festival schedule linked in the email that helped you get to this blog.

Students that perform in the morning must be at the school by 8:15 AM to catch the bus.  They will be returned to the school before Block 3, so please make sure they pack their lunches.

Students that perform in the afternoon will leave at the beginning of Block 3 to support the HSA Grade 5s, and then perform.  They are to check in at 12:45 PM at the latest.  They will be done at 4:00 PM, and returned to the school.

Students driving themselves should adhere to the exact same timeline as best as possible.

Thank you to Helen Low for driving the school's activity bus on Wednesday to deliver students to festival on time.

Grade 7s

Band Trip this Thursday.  Students must check into the school at 8:00 AM, so regular bus routes will not get the students to school on time.

The swimming portion had to be unexpectedly cancelled.  As a result, students will be visiting the National Music Centre in downtown Calgary instead.  All other aspects of the timeline will not change.  Please ensure students pack a bag lunch, as they will be eating on the bus.

Uniform: Black pants, black socks and shoes, and light white no-logo shirt.  Students are expected to wear these clothes with no exceptions.

Fees were due on Friday.  Please make sure they are paid immediately.

Thank you to our chaperones Helen Low, Jennifer Hagens, Hendrik Greidanus, Pascal Lambert, Sonya Perkins and Nichole Schmidt for your volunteerism!

Jazz and Steel

Extra Jazz Practice on Tuesday, March 20 after school.  I expect this to be a shorter practice, likely wrapping up by 4:30 PM.

Jazz students need to be at the High River United Church by 6:30 PM, as their performance is at 7:00 PM.  Uniform is black pants, black socks and shoes, and light white no-logo shirt.

Panorama performs at 7:45 PM, but check-in time is also at 6:45 PM, so that students can assemble the pans.  They are invited to remain to hear the older group perform as well.  Uniform is black pants, black socks and shoes, and light white no-logo shirts.

Pantasia performs at 8:30 PM, and they will need to help load the pans following the performance.  Please plan to help out after the evening is done, both at the church and at the school.

Playing Test due for all Grade 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 students

The "List B" piece for students is due on Thursday this week, and their Google Drive resources for recording are only available until mid-week next week.  Please note, completion of this assignment is mandatory to succeed in the band class.  Students performing solos in festivals will not need to record a List B piece until May.

Welcome Mrs. McLean!

We welcome Sarah McLean, a first-year Music Education student at the University of Calgary's Werklund School of Education, who will be spending the next month interning at Notre Dame Collegiate in the music department.  We're glad to share with her the unique opportunities and values of music education that make Notre Dame Collegiate's music department the vibrant community that it is.  Welcome, Mrs. McLean!

Watch for Marching Band Program updates next week!
