Highwood Lions Music Festival Schedule Released - Updated

Read Now

If your student is in the Senior Concert Band, Jazz Band or Steel Pans, they are registered in the Highwood Lions Music Festival for solos, duets or small ensembles.  There is also a group of Grade 7 students participating voluntarily as well.  If your student is involved in the Highwood Lions Music Festival, check out the schedule in this document to determine when they are playing.

  • For performers in the morning on March 31, the school will arrange for transport to and from the High River United Church.  Students involved in Steel Pans will not be transported back to the school, so should bring their own lunches.
  • For performers in the afternoon and evening of March 31, you will need to arrange your own transportation to and from the festival.
  • For performers in the morning April 7, transportation will be provided by Mr. Windsor.

For Senior Concert Band, Jazz and Steel Pans, participation is mandatory
.  Part of your mark (and a significant part at that) includes this performance.  Especially if you are a student in Senior Concert Band that is double-booked with another science class, participation in this event is of the utmost importance.  Please note that unexcused cancellations will result in fees being charged to cover the costs of registering students in the festival.

Flex Blocks (Self-Directed Learning Blocks) have been and will continue to be scheduled for work on these groups for the entirety of March and the first week of April.  Students are welcome to sign up for these sessions each week, but must come prepared to work.  If extra support is requested, Mr. Windsor will be available most often in the mornings and after schools.

Hello all,
We have quite the checklist to go through, so I'm asking that you go through this methodically.

Forms and Documents

Please confirm that you have handed in each of the following.  If your medical information or emergency contact information has changed, please reprint these forms and resubmit them.
  • Permission and Medical Forms (Students Under 18 / Students Over 18 / Chaperones)
  • Voided Photocopy of Passport Photo Page (Students and Chaperones)
  • Final Fees Paid (Due March 24, 2017)

Parent Information Night - Mandatory

Please Book APRIL 10, 2017 as the Final Parent Information Meeting for the Trip.  All families must have a legal guardian present at this meeting; sending only your student is not sufficient.  During this meeting we will...
  • Have A. George Dearing, a local lawyer, notarize your letters of consent permitting me to take your students across the border.  He is donating his time to do this, so please bring all the proper documents listed below to help him use his time wisely.  (If you don't get it done this night, you'll likely have to pay $25 to visit him in his office and get it done).
  • Review the finalized itinerary, including Flight Schedules and Performance Times
  • Cover all issues pertaining to luggage, money, cellphones, and insurance
  • Setup and Review all emergency procedures for the trip.
Items you will need to bring with you to get your notarized letter of consent signed are the following;
  • Documentation proving you are the legal guardian(s).  This can be a birth certificate, but may also include custody papers.
  • Photo identification for all legal guardians.
  • Legal guardians must be present, as must the student be.
  • If you are a Foster Child, government documentation indicating your current placement
  • If you are not a Canadian Citizen, your Passport and your Permanent Residency Card or other documents indicating you are legally in Canada.

Register with Travel Agent

The travel agent requires each student and chaperone to register with them.  You can delegate this task to your students (unless you are a chaperone doing this).
  1. Go to https://worldstrides.com/register/
  2. Scroll down to find the "Trip ID" box, and type in 137979.  Then click the orange "Get Started" button.
  3. Indicate if you are a student or adult.  Even 18-year-old students are still "Students", only chaperones are "Adults".  Fill out the remainder of the information on the form.  Students, please use your @isidore.redeemer.ab.ca email addresses.
  4. Continue through the various terms and conditions and agree to them, and finish your registration with WorldStrides.
  5. Make a note of your TRAVELER ID.  It will be shown to you and emailed to you.
Students and Chaperones will need to also register with MyTrip so that we can assign rooms and distribute information properly.
  1. Go to https://mytrip.worldstrides.org/login.xml
  2. Click on the "Parents, Students and Adults Click Here to join MyTrip" image.
  3. Indicate whether you are a Student, Parent of a Student, or Adult (Other).  If you are a Chaperone, choose Adult (Other).
  4. Indicate that you are registered to travel on a program (you did that earlier)
  5. Your Trip ID is 137979.  Your Traveler ID was given to you when you registered (Step 5 above).  Please set your username to be the same as your Christ the Redeemer Username.  Also use your @isidore.redeemer.ab.ca email address and your Christ the Redeemer Password.  Chaperones, choose whatever credentials you wish.
  6. Click the checkbox indicating the student is over 12 years of age, and enter one Parent's Name and their email address.  Then click "Join MyTrip!".  You're done!
