Less than a Week from Marching Band!

NDC Marching Band at 2023 Little Britches ParadeThe Little Britches Parade and Battle of the Bands is less than a week away!

Here's what you need to know ...

Grade 7 and Grade 8 Band Students will be participating in the parade on Saturday morning, May 18, 2024, and a few select Grade 9 Band students have opted to join them.  Some Senior Band students have also opted to support by marching as "Staff" to support the performers with water bottles, tuba breaks, and sunscreen as is necessary.

If you (or your student) are in Grade 7 or Grade 8 Band, or are in any other grade and have volunteered, these details are for you.

When To Meet: 8:45 AM, Saturday, May 18, 2024
Where To Meet: St. Francis deSales Catholic Church (206 9 Ave SW, High River, AB) in the back parking lot
What to Bring: Your instrument, your Band Jacket, extra reeds/mouthpiece cover/valve oil/drumsticks
The Uniform: Band Jacket (provided by Mr. Windsor, has hood), Black Pants, white undershirt, good shoes for walking on pavement (color of shoes is not important)
If it's Sunny: Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, wear a thin layer under the Band Jackets, perhaps also bring bug repellant
If it's Chilly or Overcast: Bring gloves, hand-warmers, perhaps also bring bug repellant
If the weather is uncooperative: Mr. Windsor will send an email early that morning to inform you of what accommodations are being made.
What Mr. Windsor is bringing: Tubas, Baritone Saxophones, Drums, a wagon full of water bottles, a first aid kit (for preparation purposes only)

We have no control over when we appear in the Parade, we follow the Directions of the Parade Marshall.

Parade Day Schedule

8:45 AM - Meet at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church, determine our formation together

9:15 AM - Be in Parade order, awaiting instructions from Parade Marshall

10:00 AM - Official Parade Start

Between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM - Finish Marching, go to George Lane Park to the Highwood Lions Cookhouse, get free food from Highwood Lions Club

Approximately 12:00 Noon - Battle of the Bands (we'll be one of the first bands performing)

Expected Time of Conclusion - Approximately 1:30 PM

Our NDC Marching Band is a fan favourite in the Little Britches Parade!  We're looking forward to another fantastic parade and Battle of the Bands!  See you there!
