Pans and Combos 2024

Hello all!

In your SchoolCashOnline accounts you will now see a posting for $30 for the various performances of Panorama and Senior Jazz Combo at this year's Highwood Lions Music Festival.  While details have yet to be fully confirmed, we need to get the information we can out to you now so that you can be as informed as possible.  Fees cover festival registration and bussing costs.  The Deadline for these SchoolCashOnline forms and fees is February 26, 2024.

March 18, 2024

• Before school begins, all Steel Pans students load up the steel pans and drumset into the equipment trailer.
• At the end of Block 2, Jazz Combo students load the Activity Bus and depart, bringing bag lunch
• At Noon, Steel Pans Students load the Activity Bus and depart, bringing a back lunch.
• Once at the High River United Church, Junior Panorama sets up steel pans, Senior Combos set themselves up.
• At 1:00 PM, Senior Combos Perform
• At 2:00 PM, Steel Pans Perform
• At 3:15 PM, Students help reload the equipment trailer.  Students then load the activity bus back to NDC.  Two trips may be necessary.
• At 3:30 PM, Students unload equipment trailer back into the band room, then are done for the day.

Other Affected Dates

• March 15, 2024 during Block 2 - Senior Panorama Extra Practice
• March 15, 2024 during Block 4 - Junior Panorama Extra Practice
• March 20, 2024 - No Steel Pans in the Evening
• March 25, 2024 - Yes, Senior Combos will be practicing
• March 27, 2024 - No Steel Pans, Senior Jazz Combos have a gig at the Memorial Centre from 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM, see below for details

Paying Gigs and Volunteer Opportunities

We have a number of paying gigs and volunteer opportunities coming up that we would require commitment from students on that will happen outside of school events.  They include;

• High School Students have been requested to volunteer for a Kinette's event on March 23, 2024 from 7:00-9:00 PM, a donation will be provided for their volunteer service
• Senior Jazz Combos have been requested to play a gig on March 27, 2024 for a Rotary event at the Highwood Golf Course, the time commitment for which would be 5:00 PM to 9:00PM, donation will be provided for their participation.
  • The Imperfectionists call time is 6:00 PM, they will be complete at 7:30 PM.
  • Taking Back Saturday's call time is 7:30 PM, they will be complete no later than 9:30 PM.

We will be looking for verbal commitments for these events.
