Hello everyone, this is a really big update, including information about The Christmas Concert, the Farm To School Fundraiser, Parent Student Teacher Interviews, and the Toque Fundraiser. Please take some time to read through all the details here. We are trying something new with our first concert of the year ... Two Concerts in One Night! We hope that this will ensure there is seating for everyone who wishes to attend! Purchase Tickets at https://ndc.ticksuite.ca, or at the NDC Front Office.Your student has free admission to the concert(s) they perform in. If you wish to attend a single concert, admission to that concert is $5 (free for children under 5). If you wish to attend both concerts, admission will be $7.50 covering both concerts (please make sure you choose the "Both Concerts" option if you want to attend both). Students are expected to arrive 30 minutes prior to the beginning of their portion of the concert. Students are also encouraged to attend the other concerts they do not perform in to support their fellow musicians. There will also be 3 fundraisers represented that evening, so please bring cash to support these various causes;Vegetables that you have ordered for our Farm To School Fundraiser will be available for pickup (order at https://fundraising.ndcfinearts.ca) REMINDER: Music courses are performance-based, and therefore performances like the Christmas Concert are mandatory. Students are expected to attend the concerts for the bands they are members of. Unavailable for Parent-Student-Teacher InterviewsMr. Windsor is helping with the technological requirements of the Provincial Volleyball Championships hosted by Notre Dame Collegiate. As a result (as announced by our school previously), he is unavailable at the traditional time for Parent-Student-Teacher Interviews. If you wish to have such an appointment, Mr. Windsor is available in evenings for ZOOM meetings, please send him an email at [email protected] to request the interview. A reminder of our favourite fundraiser, Farm To School. Orders are accepted up to November 26, and vegetables will be delivered to NDC for the Christmas Concert. 50% of the proceeds go to the NDC Music Department, and all orders designated as donations will be going to the High River Food Bank.
Student AssignmentsAt the beginning of the school year, there are not a lot of assignments that students will have to see on their gradebooks (and report cards). At this point, one chapter of Breezin' Thru Theory assignments for students should be complete. Some students also have responding assignments, some have performances, and all students will have skills assignments in their gradebook by the end of the week. While I'm pleased with the work students have submitted, sometimes they have higher demands for themselves. Improving a skills assessment mark is always acceptable through BandLab at home, and Breezin' Thru marks can always be improved as well at home. To get an idea as to what all activities students will be expected to complete throughout the year, visit Mr. Windsor's Notes pages at https://notes.ndcfinearts.ca. As always, thank you for your support of your students in music.I have a pretty awesome job, working with your young musicians. Their growth this year has been a truly blessing to witness, and I'm looking forward to sharing that growth with you on December 8! |
