Our Con Brio Sun Peaks Music Festival is less than a week away!

Thursday, April 25, 2025

  • 7:30 AM Mountain Time - Arrive by this time to Load Coach
  • 8:15 AM Mountain Time - Depart Notre Dame Collegiate
  • 8:30 AM Mountain Time - Arrive at Holy Spirit Academy, set up
  • 9:30 AM Mountain Time - Performance by Sr. Band and Jazz Combos, and Sharing with HSA students
  • 10:15 AM Mountain Time - Pack up and Depart
  • 12:00 PM Mountain Time - Stop in Canmore, AB for food
  • 1:00 PM Mountain Time - Depart Canmore, AB
  • 4:00 PM Pacific Time - Arrival at Crazy Creek, BC for Hot Springs
  • 5:30 PM Pacific Time - Depart Crazy Creek
  • 6:00 PM Pacific Time - Arrive at Best Western Sicamous Inn, check in, walk for supper (either Tim Horton's or Subway)
  • 10:00 PM Pacific Time - Lights Out

Friday, April 26, 2024 (all Pacific Time)

  • 7:00 AM - Morning Breakfast
  • 8:30 AM - Checkout of Sicamous hotel
  • 11:30 AM - Arrive at Sun Peaks Resort, check into hotel
    • Students will remain on campus for all activities from this point until departure on Sunday
  • 2:15 PM - Gather, attend Handsworth Senior Choir performance in Grand Ballroom
  • 4:00 PM - Saxophones Only in The Annex for workshop
  • 4:00 PM - Percussion Only in the Alpine Room for workshop
  • 5:00 PM - Flutes, Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinets, Bass Clarinets Only in The Annex for workshop
  • 6:00 PM - Brass Only in The Annex for workshop
  • 7:00 PM-9:00 PM - Scavenger Hunt Team Signup (optional)
  • 10:00 PM - Lights out

Saturday, April 27, 2024 (all Pacific Time)

  • 7:45 AM - Breakfast at Mantles Restaurant
  • 8:45 AM - All gather, attend performance of MEI Grade 9 Concert Band
  • 9:30 AM - Downtime, Double-Buddy System
  • 1:15 PM - Be in uniform with instruments put together
  • 1:20 PM - Arrive at Warm-Up Room
  • 1:50 PM - Warm-Up
  • 2:30 PM - Performance
  • 3:00 PM - Workshop
  • 3:30 PM - Return instruments to hotel rooms
  • 3:45 PM - Head to The Annex to attend performance of Shaftesbury High School Jazz
  • 4:30 PM - Downtime
  • 7:15 PM - Gather for Evening Gala Festival Concert
  • 8:30 PM - Downtime
  • 10:00 PM - Lights out

Sunday, April 28, 2024

  • 7:45 AM Pacific TIme - Breakfast at Cahilty Creek Grill
  • 9:00 AM Pacific Time - Gather with uniforms and instruments put together
  • 9:30 AM Pacific Time - Massed Bands Workshop
  • 10:30 AM Pacific Time - Hotel Checkout, load Coach, depart
  • 12:00 PM Pacific Time - Stop in Chase, BC for Lunch (Railside Restaurant, U-Thi Sushi Grill, Subway)
  • 1:00 PM Pacific Time - Depart Chase, BC
  • 5:30 PM Mountain Time - Arrive in Golden, BC for supper/snacks (Dairy Queen, McDonald's, Subway)
  • 6:30 PM Mountain Time - Depart Golden, BC
  • 9:30 PM Mountain Time - Arrive at NDC, Parents to pick up students.

Travel and accomodations are arranged by Ellison Travel.

Equipment to Pack

  • Instrument in working order with maintenance supplies (extra reeds, mallets and sticks, shakers)
  • Music Folder with sheet music and pencil (Holst, Moana, Eagle Song and Journey required)
  • Black shoes, black socks, black pants, white undershitrt (Jacket will be provided)

 

  • Clothing for four days and 3 nights
    • We will be in the mountains in a mountain village, consider appropriate clothing such as toques, jackets, gloves, snowy-resistant footwear (shorts might not be good enough, Arlin)
    • Swimwear (students are not permitted in hotel or resort pools without one of our chaperones directly present out of the water whether there is a lifeguard or not)
    • Pajamas
  • Toiletries
  • Medication (please note, families should update medical information by Friday, April 19 with the school; students will be responsible for managing their own medication, chaperones and teachers are not permitted to be involved in student medication management)
  • Money for meals (lunch and supper on all 4 days, locations indicated in the itinerary; all breakfasts are already paid for)
  • Homework and other personal entertainment tools for working on the bus (bring expensive devices and items at your own risk)
