The Junior Concert Band is participating in the Alberta Band Association Festival of Bands on May 11, 2018. They leave immediately after school, perform at the Red Deer College at 4:30 PM, will continue in sessions until 6:00 PM, and will be home at 9:00 PM.
Permission Forms and details have been sent home. Forms are due on Friday, May 4. Fees of $45 are due that same day.
Uniforms will be black dress pants, black shoes and socks. A lightweight white undershirt with no colors or logos showing is ideal for wearing under the NDC Music Jackets, which will be provided by the school.
Transportation is provided by Good Company Travel. Students will also need to pack a bag lunch and cash for dinner.
This will be a fun day-trip for music!
Proceeds go to fund Fine Arts at our school. This is one of our biggest fundraisers, fill out an order form and submit to the school by Monday, May 7, 2018! Plants arrive at our year-end showcase.
The Senior Wind Ensemble is participating in the Alberta Band Association Festival of Bands, but before they do, they will take a trip up to Edmonton to work with Dr. Daryl Price of the University of Alberta. This trip takes place May 12 through 14, 2018.
The itinerary (simplified) is as follows;
Saturday, May 12
8:30 AM - Depart NDC
12:30 Noon - Arrive in Edmonton, Mall Time
7:30 PM - Late night dinner on Bourbon Street
9:00 PM - Check into Ramada Hotel
10:00 PM - Lights out
Sunday, May 13
8:30 AM - Mass at St. Joseph's Basilica
10:00 AM - Workshop/Clinics with Dr. Price
4:00 PM - Back to Mall for food/shopping
8:00 PM - Bowling
10:00 PM - Lights out
Monday, May 14
9:30 AM - Check out of hotel
2:00 PM - Depart Edmonton
5:30 PM - Perform at ABA Festival
7:00 PM - Finish sessions at ABA Festival
8:00 PM - Depart Red Deer
10:00 PM - Return to NDC
Students will need;
- Their instrument, sheet music, pencil
- Black pants, black socks/shoes
- White dress shirt (not using jackets)
- Change of clothes for 2 overnights
- Swimwear (for hotel pool or World Waterpark)
- Cash for 3 lunches and 3 suppers (one lunch can be a bag lunch)
Students will stay at the Ramada Hotel, which includes hot breakfast and pool. Transportation will be by the school's activity bus.
Permission forms and details were sent home. Forms are due Friday, May 4, and the fee of $300 is due ASAP to cover the costs of Dr. Price, the ABA Festival Fees, transportation, hotel with breakfasts, and entertainment.
Please find an itinerary update here. The new itinerary includes shifting our Friday activities to Brooks at our sister schools Christ the King Academy and St. Joseph's Collegiate. It pushes back our return time to 2:30 PM on the Friday, but otherwise shouldn't affect other activities.
